Betings At Casino
Any Craps Along the bottom of the proposition area there is a rectangle similar to the any seven, which contains the label any craps. The any craps bet wins if craps—two, three, or twelve —appear on the next toss. This bet wins eight for one. If any other number than craps is tossed, this bet loses. Like the any seven, the any craps bet is a one-toss bet. This bet is so popular that, in addition to the rectangle, it occupies the many spaces indicated by the circled C, which were discussed above. There are variations on different layouts. Some layouts will pay back any craps bets at eight for one. This is actually the same as seven to one—it is just labeled differently. Consequently, the following variations may be found: any craps paying back eight for one, any seven paying back five for one, both the three and the eleven paying back sixteen for one, and finally, the two and the twelve paying thirty-one for one. Two, Three, Eleven, Twelve Although it varies according to the preference of the jeux casino , the individual bets on the two, three, eleven, and twelve are usually made directly above the any crap area. These bets are represented by the faces of the dice as they would fall, for example the two: E , the three: I 1i , the eleven: , and the twelve: II . When bet individually in this manner, the two and the twelve pay thirty to one, and the three and eleven pay fifteen to one. Like all of the other proposition bets, these are one-toss bets, and lose if any other number is tossed. There is a way to bet all or any combinations of these numbers at once. One way is called a bet on the horn. In order to bet all four of these numbers, you must throw down four chips and call out: “Bet on the horn.” If any of those nurr bers if tossed you win the designated payoff indicated on box of that number. If none of those numbers come up, you lost the entire bet. Horn bets pay the amount indicated on the individual box, as if only one chip were bet on that number. For example, the three and the eleven each pay back fifteen one, and the two and the twelve each pay back thirty to one. Should you wish to bet a $5 chip, you can make what known as a high horn bet. With this bet, you are putting $2 on a designated number and $1 each on the other three numbers. For example, if you wanted to bet $2 on the two, you would say “two high horn,” and similarly for the three, the eleven, or the twelve. You can make a bet on the three craps—two, three, and twelve—by placing your three chips down and calling out: “Three-way craps.” For a bet on the two and the twelve, throw down two chips and call out “high low,” and for a bet on the three and the eleven, call out “three and eleven.” Just remember that these bets, as well as the horn and the high horn, are all one-toss bets. You can bet on any of the combinations discussed above, as well as on other combinations such as the two and the three or the eleven and the twelve, provided that you put down one chip for each number on which you are betting. Most casinos provide special areas for horn bets, but some others do not. Because of this you must make your intentions known to the dealer, loudly and clearly. Otherwise, you may discover that you don’t have a bet, if the layout does not contain this particular area. Hardway Bets Sandwiched between the any seven at the top, and the various craps bets on the bottom, is the area designated for the hardway bets. The hardway bets are on all of the even numbers on the layout, except the two and twelve. Each number is represented by a pair of die faces showing how the number must fall in order for the bet to win. Each of these numbers must come up as doubles on the dice: the four is represented by two and two, the six by three and three, the eight by four and four, and the ten by five and five. The hard way bettor is betting that a particular number will come up exactly as specified—the hard way—and not as any other combination. For example, the four can fall as one and three, two and two, and three and one, but the hardway bet wins only if it is two and two. The ten can fall as four and six, five and five, and six and four, but only five and five is considered the hardway number. Bets on the four and the ten pay seven to one, or eight for one, depending on which terminology the jeux casino prefers to use. The six and the eight have a different number of possibilities of falling, and consequently carry different payoffs. The six can fall as one and five, two and four, three and three, four and two, and five and one, but only three and three is the hardway. The eight can also appear in five different ways; two and six, three and five, four and four, five and three, and six and two, while only four and four is the hardway. Compared to the four and ten, which can fall in three ways, the eight and the six can each fall in five combinations. Since there is less chance of a hardway number coming up on the six and the eight, the payoff is nine to one, or ten for one, depending on the wording used by the casino. To make a hardway bet, you throw the amount of your bet toward the center of the table and call out that amount, along with the number preceded by “hard.” For example, if you were betting $2 on the hardway six, you would shout out “two dollars hard-six.” The combinations of even numbers which are not hard- ways are known as easy numbers. Should your number come up the easy way, your hardway bet loses. Unlike the other proposition bets discussed above, the hardway bets are not one-toss bets. They are good until they win, or until they lose to an easy number combination or a seven. Usually, bets left on a hardway number during a come-out toss are on and can lose if a seven comes out. In New Jersey, hardway bets are always off on the come-out toss. Make sure you inform the dealer whether or not you want these bets on or off during the come-out toss, and be certain that he acknowledges you!
