How to Play 7 Card Stud
When you learn how to play 7 card stud you will find it one of the most entertaining poker games that you can play. Although there is a hi/lo version, the traditional form of the game is that the highest hand wins the pot. The difference between this poker game and other versions is that you have seven cards from which you can make a winning hand of five cards. There are no specific cards you have to use because you can use a combination of any five of the seven cards. To start the game, each player must put in an ante. The ante is an amount of money each player must put into the pot in order to receive any cards and the amount is agreed upon prior to the start of the game. The dealer shuffles the cards and starting with the player to his/her immediate left deals two cards face down to each player. These are called the hole cards. The dealer then deals one more card to each player face up so that everyone at the table knows at least one card of all the opponents. This card is included as one of the cards you can use to make a winning hand. All players look at the cards that are turned down. The player with the lowest card showing is the one that has to place the first small bet. This is called a bring-in because it helps to bring the other players into the game. Each player, starting with the person to the left of the player paying the bring-in, then takes a turn betting on the cards they hold in their hand. Players can decide to call, raise the bet or to fold. After each player has completed this round of betting, the dealer deals another card face up to each player. This is the turn card and the players with knowledge of what cards they each hold and two of the cards of the other players decide whether to call, raise or fold when their turn to bet comes around. This time the player with the highest card showing on the turn will start the betting. This is the norm from now on with the player with the highest card starting the round of betting. Once the players have completed betting, a fifth card is dealt face up. Once this round is over, the dealer deals another card to each player ?again face up. Then there is another round of betting. The seventh and final card is dealt to each player face down. Players now bet on all their cards. After this they show they show their cards at a showdown and the player with the best five card hand out of the seven wins the round. Some of the variations of seven card stud are: - Razz ?the lowest hand wins - Follow the Queen ?the dealer deals out the cards until there is a queen. The card that is dealt next is the wild card that all players can use. - Baseball ?three and nine are wild cards in this game For more information on 7 Card Stud, how to become a professional poker player and the Gutshot visit http://www.PokerTips.or
