As you learn to play poker it is very important to understand the ranking of the hands from the best to worse. Particularly, the importance of analyzing the starting hands for each poker variant and playing accordingly is crucial to the success of any poker player. To learn to play poker one will have to use lot of mathematical energy and sense, it is not anything like pulling out tarot cards; it is lot of logic and intelligence.

Suppose you are playing no limit Holdem and you playing under the gun with being first to play with marginal hand what could be your next best move? If you are a beginner you can make a brilliant decision and just give a reference to the starting hand recommendations for this play. You can either do it by referring to a book or notes or you can retain the logics of starting hand play from your memory. And based on a reference to the starting hand you can learn to play poker accordingly after making the right choice of whether to play. With some medium hands, the playing recommendations are mostly based on favorable draws in the flop. Medium hands can be played, but they need to be folded if things do not work favorable in the flop. When you learn to play poker you need to understand, the importance of having to fold after certain positions and unfavorable draws.

Unfortunately, the starting hands chart is should not be a one of firm adherence because some players have remained to be mediocre players because they did learn to play poker based on starting hand rule. Following the starting hand rule is better for a gainful and standard source of bankroll play. But if you want to learn to play poker by taking a lot of risk then you need to play high risk hands with high risk techniques. A lot of the players that have learnt to put in tricks and a bit of daring beyond the starting hand rule have in fact become winning players. But with such plays too, blind risk taking is not the way, there is a specific method to follow and even the most risk taking player has a method they use to play like starting with a slow ball, making a standard set of approach from the early position for a particular and varying their risk taking standard based on position and opponent nature etcetera.
